Senator Katherine Zappone will chair a public meeting for the early years sector, early years educators, and for parents in Tallaght and its surrounding areas to discuss the best way to invest in early years education and care.
Budget 2016 will be critical for the early years sector. It is expected that the Government will significantly increase spending on early years education and care and the choices made now will determine the direction of state investment in the sector over the coming years.
It is therefore of great importance that the voices of those who work in the sector have the opportunity to make their voices heard.
Senator Zappone wishes to bridge the gap in knowledge between the Oireachtas and our community by hosting a roundtable discussion with early years experts and practitioners.
The roundtable panellists will include:
Senator Katherine Zappone (Chair)
Maura McMahon, CEO, An Cosán
Teresa Heeney, CEO, Early Childhood Ireland
Dr. Geraldine French, St Patrick's College, DCU
Anne Genockey, General Manager, An Cosán
Marlene McCormack, St. Patrick's College, CDU
Senator Zappone will also be presenting her policy and investment proposals, ‘An Equal Start in Early Childhood’, which was published in July. You can read this policy and a summarised version below.
